Team Wonderland

Team Wonderland is the heart of Obstacle Wonderland—made up of athletes, volunteers, coaches, and supporters who believe obstacles are about more than racing. We’re here to lift each other up, represent our community with pride, and help the next generation discover what they’re capable of.

This is not an elite only team.
This is a family.

Whether you’re training for podiums, tackling your first obstacle, mentoring kids, or showing up to support events, Team Wonderland is about effort, attitude, and giving back.

Jessica Carson

Endurance athlete turned hybrid.

Jess is an accomplished athlete who became a 4-time All-American (2x cross country('12/'13), 2x track('13)) during undergrad. Inducted into her alma mater's Athletic Hall of Fame in 2024, she needed something more. Discovering Obstacle Wonderland was her eye opening moment to what she wanted to do. Without having to totally hang up the laces, she shifted her focus on adding weights and pushing new limits to unlock her full potential and elevate both mind and body. Already having podium finishes in just her first season of OCR, she's excited to continue working hard, but more importantly to continue having fun and making more community connections.

Nathan Lambert " Nate"

Nate and his lovely wife Abbie are pillars of the OCR community.

He has accumulated over 169 Spartan Races and counting. Nate’s focus is on the Spartan Extreme Endurance side and he is no stranger to 4, 12, 24 and 48+ hour events. He has completed hundreds of hours of Hurricane Heats and has done several winter and summer Spartan Death Races.

Sandra Riddle " Sandy"

I found my outlet in physical challenge. I started bootcamp in 2017, and in 2018 I ran my first obstacle race, The Titan Run a moment that sparked a passion for obstacle racing, road running, and trail running. Through the sport, I found peace, confidence, and happiness I didn’t know I was missing. The journey hasn’t been easy. I’ve faced Achilles surgery, torn foot tendons, and bone health challenges, but quitting was never an option. I may not do as much as I once could, but I do what I can and I’m grateful for the resilience, friendships, and long-term support this community has given me.

“Abbie”

Abbie is a stubborn athlete who once avoided gym class whenever possible while growing up in Taiwan. Her athletic journey didn’t begin until 2019, when her husband introduced her to the world of Spartan racing and there was no turning back. Some of her accomplishments include completing the Spartan Death Race, the Gauntlet Endurance Race, and multiple Hurricane Heats at the 24-hour, 12-hour, and 4-hour levels. For Abbie, obstacle racing isn’t about podiums (although she’s often on them) or perfection. It’s about showing up, doing hard things, and being part of a community filled with incredible people who support her, challenge her, and graciously tolerate her broken English. She believes progress matters more than pace and that suffering is always better with good company.

While not chasing the 169 towns in Connecticut via road races, Jane is enjoying all the spirit, love, and comradity that the OCR community has given her over the past few years. Always learning and trying to improve on her own mind, body and soul, the goal has always been to give back, or find ways to include new athletes with the same empathy and compassion she was welcomed with. Special Olympics Connecticut coach, Quality of Life program manager, artist, endurance runner, and active NEOCR committee member. Her passion projects include both Teddy Bear Crawl and Dealers of Hope Foundations.

Scott Degenhardt, AKA ScottyD, began OCR in 2017 his coach, Roger Brady showing TM pictures. Faking it until he made it, made it to podium several times! Hard work, training made him strong competitor, great coach to all ages.
